Why AEH exists

Education depends on two sides that do not always meet easily. On one side are schools, where enrolment, classes, grades and attendance must be followed every day by school leaders and administrators, and where every hour spent on administration is an hour taken away from teaching. On the other side are students, who often have to decide on their own where to start studying.

For students, the difficulty is knowing what to learn, in which order and how to study. Without a clear path, it is easy to spend time on topics that are not yet the right ones, or to skip the fundamentals that everything else depends on.

This difficulty is felt most strongly in the move from secondary school to university, when solid fundamentals are needed to keep up with what comes next. AEH exists to meet both needs with tools that are simple to understand and to use, designed for the realities of Angolan institutions.

The mission

AEH’s mission is to develop accessible school management systems and study guides, designed for the realities of Angolan institutions.

Accessible means, first of all, easy to understand: a simple interface that can be used without needing a manual. It also means tools designed for the context in which they will be used, and built to work in Portuguese, English and French.

In practice, the mission has two fronts. For institutions, it means reducing the complexity of administrative work. For students, it means offering a clear study path that gives them the confidence to move forward.

The objectives

AEH’s overall objective is to create digital tools that simplify school management and make studying clearer for Angolan students and teachers. Four concrete objectives follow from it.

Simplify how institutions are managed

Bring enrolment, classes, grades and attendance into one dashboard, so that school leaders and administrators work with less scattered information and more clarity.

Show the way to study

Tell students what to learn, in which order and how to study, instead of leaving them alone with the decision of where to begin.

Consolidate the fundamentals

Help students consolidate the fundamentals needed for the move from secondary school to university, by explaining the core concepts and the reasoning behind each solution.

Reach every subject

Make AEH Eureka a product for every subject, not just a few, within a single platform.

The vision

AEH’s vision is to become the national reference in educational technology, present in schools across every province.

Being a reference is not a matter of size but of trust: tools that Angolan institutions recognise as useful in their daily work, and that reach the whole country rather than only a few regions.

It is a long-term ambition, built step by step, tool by tool.

What it does

AEH organises its work around two tools, on a single platform.

School management systems

The first system is intended for schools and universities. It brings enrolment, classes, grades and attendance into one dashboard, for school leaders and administrators.

The system’s motto sums up its intention:

Simplifying management, valuing teaching.

Original mottoSimplificando a gestão, valorizando o ensino.

Less time spent on administrative tasks leaves more attention for what matters most in an educational institution: teaching. The application is in preparation and is not yet available on this page.

Eureka, online study guides

AEH Eureka is AEH’s learning product. It is made up of study guides, or learning roadmaps, for every subject, showing students what to study, in which order and with which resources.

The starting point is a visual roadmap showing the sequence of topics to study. On opening a topic, the student finds its definition, the concepts to consolidate, the study sources linked to it and suggested exercises, organised by level (foundational, elementary and advanced) with the source always identified. These exercises are meant for study and are solved outside the platform.

The method is first principles: explaining the fundamental concepts and the reasoning behind each solution, so that students understand rather than merely memorise.

When students want to know where they stand, they can take an adaptive test, before or after studying. Solving is done step by step and the questions adjust as the test goes on. The result shows the student’s level in each topic and comes with a study recommendation.

The motto of AEH Eureka says it all:

Teaching you to learn!

Original mottoEnsinando-te a aprender !

Working principles

Three principles guide the design of every AEH application.

Designed for the Angolan reality

The tools are designed for Angolan institutions and for people studying in Angola. The aim is an interface that is simple to understand and to use, without depending on a user guide.

Content reviewed before publication

Learning content is published only after review, and exercises always identify their source, so that students know where what they study comes from.

In Portuguese, English and French

AEH applications are designed to be available in Portuguese, English and French from the first version.

Who created and maintains it

Angola Education Hub and Antilope Lab were both created by Júnior Futa(opens in a new tab). Antilope Lab, a software and hardware creation lab, develops and maintains the AEH software.
